The 2026 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island is set to feature an exciting addition, with the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) joining the event's on-track schedule.
This collaboration marks the first time that ASBK will compete alongside the MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 classes during the Grand Prix weekend.

The inclusion of ASBK in the Grand Prix is facilitated by the championship's transition to a summer calendar, allowing the 2026-2027 season to commence alongside the MotoGP event from 23 to 25 October 2026. This integration provides ASBK riders with a unique opportunity to showcase their talents on an international stage.

Round one of the 2026 Penrite ASBK Championship was recently held at Phillip Island, featuring intense competition among emerging talents and seasoned riders. The upcoming Grand Prix event is expected to deliver similarly thrilling performances, as riders vie for early season dominance in the new ASBK era.

Historically, Australian Superbike racing has been a proving ground for many of the country's motorcycle racing legends, including Wayne Gardner, Mick Doohan, and Chris Vermeulen. The integration of ASBK into the Grand Prix weekend continues this tradition, offering a platform for the next generation of riders to make their mark.

Fans can anticipate a weekend of high-octane racing, with the combined event promising to be a highlight of the 2026 motorsport calendar.

New South Wales riders have a fresh reason to keep insurance costs on their radar, with state-level reform of the Emergency Services Levy continuing to draw attention from the general insurance sector. The levy has traditionally added a charge to many insurance premiums, meaning policyholders help fund emergency services through their insurance bills. Industry bodies have long argued that this approach can make cover less affordable, particularly for households already balancing higher living costs. - read more

Australia’s broader lending market is giving motorbike buyers a useful, if indirect, signal: rates may be more stable than they were during the steepest phase of the cycle, but lenders are still pricing risk carefully. Recent variable-rate lending updates show a market where some providers remain competitive for well-qualified borrowers, while others are holding firm or adjusting offers more selectively. - read more
